Journalist Journey: The Eye of Odin Review

Nice visuals... good premise. And right until I purchased it, a nicely engaging puzzle... No, I didn't read the review. But I hope you are! Just as with my fellow reviewer, right after I finished the trial period and paid for the game, it quit working when I reached the 5th scene. When I clicked on a certain object it crashed. I would really like to run the game... or get my money back. Too bad.. visuals, premise and puzzle and no engine!

Mishap 2: An Intentional Haunting Review

I was enthralled by this game! The hidden object scenes are chock full of objects alright, but your eye is distracted by a host of creatures doing their thing. -dragons belching fire, helmeted hunters shooting arrows, huge hands clenching and unclenching, a volcano erupting in the background. It is a delight to just sit on your computer chair and watch the animation.
Ghost hunter Milton Hobblepop and his wife Emily have been placed in a sort of limbo world, between planes of existence, by Milton's arch rival Avery Nailliv. Milton's cronies (you) then have the daunting task of sneaking into Avery's domain and freeing them, but mischievous poltergeists will throw a monkey wrench into the works by distracting you in causing cups to fly from their saucers or chairs to suddenly elevate. The ghosts are a hilarious bunch of malcontents and you will learn their tales of woe as you go along. Each ghost has to be zapped by you three times before he'll go away. You'll be solving riddles, too, in order to progress, and the solutions aren't all that easy.
This game is more fun than a barrel of monkeys and although the humor is on the slapstick side you and that bright - eyed kid next to you can play with mutual contentment and joy as "Mishap 2" is one of those rare games that appeals to all ages. Me? I'm 80!

Mishap: An Accidental Haunting Review

Overall, this is fun to play, but it's a bit short - it took me about five hours to complete. One difference about this game is the lack of returns to the same room - each main room has three smaller rooms to explore, and you never go back to the same scene to find more objects. I expected a longer game considering the size of the download, but a lot of that turned out to be animation.
What I liked:
- There's no time limit
- The hidden objects aren't *too* difficult to find, but they take a bit of searching.
- The storyline is well-written - it's funny, a bit sad, and charming in places.
- The riddles are fun and relatively easy to solve.
- The penalty for too many mis-clicks is rather high ::g:: (you'll see what I mean).
- In addition to the usual objects and mini-games, there are some 'minor' ghosts to be captured, and they have some fun stories behind them.
What I didn't like:
- The mini-games are mostly hand-eye coordination/speed games, and I'm no good at those, but after an initial try, you can skip them.
- Some objects are difficult to find because the graphics are a bit *too* cartoonish.
- I expected some sort of interactive play at the end, but the characters wrap it up without any help.
Overall, this game is a little different from the usual HOG formula, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for something new.
