(More customer reviews)I have been using Norton Internet Security for two years now and I am very happy with it. The installation was pretty painless, and the configuration is fairly simple. If you want you can just select "High-Medium-Low" type settings or you can go into the advanced sections and tweak the firewall to your hearts content.
The reason I selected this over other firewall products are the extras: ad blocking, a few more privacy features, and anti-virus protection. The ad-blocking speeds up my Internet connection because I don't have to download all those adds and pop up windows. Privacy settings keep web sites from tracking my page jumps, and it lets me manage who I will accept cookies from (though the cookie management is a little clunky). Bundling the anti-virus saves me the trouble of buying one separately.
Unlike some Norton products I've owned in the past, I haven't had any software conflicts, and the auto-update utility works seamlessly. If you have a DSL or Cable Modem, and you don't have a firewall installed, you are crazy. I get security alerts every month or so letting me know about a Trojan Horse or some other attempt to mess with my PC. Norton blocks the attacks, pops up a warning, and logs the IP address of the attacker, which I usually pass on to my ISP. I've also logged onto security sites that will run port scans on your system and look for security holes and Norton has passed every time.
