(More customer reviews)This is a great combination security suite for Sonicwall, but the seller neglects to say for how long the license is. Is it a one or two year license. I buy two year licenses for about $190, so if it is a two year license, the price is great. If it is a one year license then the price is too high.

Boggle/Upwords/Hangman Word Hunter Collection Review

(More customer reviews)I usually shy away from Valuesoft, but what a pleasant surprise here! No problems installing the collection on my XP system, no noticeable bugs, thoughtful options... and some great games! For this price, you can't go wrong if you like word games.
In my opinion, Upwords is the clear pick of the litter. Extremely addictive! While the game can be played the classic way, several options allow you to spice it up: unlimited tile stacking (instead of the usual 5-tile high), colored tiles (where letter tiles are of different colors, and forming words in the same color doubles your points), time limit, etc. I found the AI to be a decent opponent, even though I didn't know some of the words it used. Another nice touch is that the game displays your current word(s) score before you commit to it -- and if one of the words shown has a score of zero, it means it's not in the game's dictionary.
Boggle is fun too. You can play it solitaire, or with AI player(s), and with or without a time limit. The board can be the classic 4x4 cubes, the Big 5x5 cubes board, or the Mega board with 6x6 cubes. Here again, several options allow you to modify the standard play to spice things up (multi-use letters, disallow "s" plurals, minimum word length, and more).
Word Hunter is similar to a game called Super Text Twist. Your are given 8 letters forming an anagram, and a certain amount of words to find between 3 to 8 letters. I found the game quite entertaining. Perfect for a quick game if you don't have time for something more meaty.
Hangman didn't hold my attention very long, but maybe younger players would enjoy it. One option lets you change the classic hangman character into a spider -- with 8 legs, it allows for more wrong guesses. Other options allows you to make the game more difficult, for instance by disallowing vowel guesses.
Pros:
- Infinite replay value.
- Single player, multiplayer hotseat/network/LAN (haven't tried any multiplayer games yet)
- Adjustable AI players difficulty.
- Music and/or sound effects can be turned off.
- Can be played without the CD in the drive.
- According to my CD, it's compatible with Windows Vista too.
Cons:
- Can't save a game in progress (not a big deal, although it would have been nice for Upwords).
- Can't edit the dictionary used by the game (Upwords refused the word "zen" for instance, which I found irritating).
- None of the games save high scores.
All in all, a great value for very entertaining games (Upwords alone is worth it!)

(More customer reviews)My small business was looking for a small server solution - this hit the spot exactly.
We were prepared to spend more than twice this much for the MS Small Business Server. We were shocked to find this version, for half the price, that ALSO included the operating system, Frontpage, Outlook, and some other things bundled in with it. The "extras" alone were almost worth the purchase price. Plus, the Small Business Server wasn't as versatile.
We didn't even know this was available any more - the Microsoft web site said it has been discontinued. But I guess some retailers still have a few copies out there, though I would assume they are rare.
And in my view, the 2000 server suite is the way to go - "light weight" and less hassle, fewer hardware requirements, and easier to add new clients. And, we have fewer compatability problems with Windows 2000 than trying to run XP or Me.
We've been growing steadily, and every time we need to add a few more clients, we buy a few more licenses. We just email the guys who sold us the original suite, and they sell us 5 at a time for about $200. It just works out so great when the easiest & quickest solution is also one of the least expensive ways to go.

BBE Sonic Maximizer Plugin Software Review

(More customer reviews)Several months ago I saw someone post at another websight about this software that is just 'adds distortion.' (?) I can understand why he said that if when he initially tried to use it and didn't have any idea how the settings work. It could if not used properly.
This software is very 'interesting' it what it may be able to do for you in different applications. With a little patients on your part, you may indeed get some very impressive results in finer distinction and clarity with some of your favorite music tracks. I've tried it on many things the last few days after I bought it, from bad recordings to even 'remasters.' (Some of the 'remasters' are just plain poor. Listen for yourself instead of being caught up by this vague 'buzz word.')
Being a musician and working in sound for many years, I don't believe there's any 'one click fix' to any sound problem you might encounter. But what I've found so far with the BBE Sonic Maximizer is that it can be a very useful tool, adjusted properly, and help a great deal in adding clarity, detail, presence and/or depth to music that seems 'flat' or 'lifeless.'
Does it add 'distortion' as I was led to believe at first? It could if not adjusted correctly. (An obvious thing to check is to make sure your 'output level' in the BBE software is not pushing your host application into clipping (distorting). You might not need this kind of application at all and be trying to use it to "fix" (or 'adjust') for an entirely different 'problem.' (It might just be a matter of personal taste and isn't 'a problem' to begin with.)
I wished I had initially taken my own advise and reminded myself to 'go listen for yourself.' I might not need this software all the time, but I'm certainly glad I have it now. Using it on some of my sound projects is going to be very helpful. It is giving me some audio clarity and detail I was not able to get at times. It is a MUST HAVE for me.

(More customer reviews)Warzone 2100 is the strategy game to end all strategy games. The storyline is great. You're able to build structures like the factory, HQ, and Research Facility. And you're able to build units each with different bodies, wheel systems, and weapons. And almost every mission has artifacts you can research so you can build more units and structures. Also, even at the easiest level of challenge the enemies are always tough and intelligent. And they're always better equipped then you, making it even more difficult. Overall, this is one of the best games for everyone, not just strategy gamers.

(More customer reviews)I'm an avid AOK:Conquerers player and I NEVER thought I would find a game that would blow it away. I've found it!!! The graphics are stuning. The detail in the buildings is extreme. The trees really look like trees. The peasants and military units perform their tasks with an almost lifelike grace.
Rifles, cannons mortars etc. all have different sounds and all produce puffs of smoke when they fire. The artillary bombardments are spectacular; actual explosions and clouds of smoke and flying debris when they hit a target.
The ships are very lifelike, especially in their movements.
Forget the 200 maximum on units... I just finished my first run thru on this game and had a maximum population limit of 1000 and could have gone higher. There are also LOADs of unit upgrades.
On a scale of 10 I rate this one a definate 12!!

Aliens vs. Predator 2 Review

The game keeps your heart racing because an alien can jump at you out of no were and can appear behind you. And its cool how you only have a little light to help you see in the dark. Some people say the graphics aren't that good but when I played the game if thought they were great. The sounds in the game are really nice they remind you of the movies. The Back round music is really cool to. The Predator levels are really fun with all the different weapons but it's also the hardest because you die so fast. The Alien levels are real fun because you get to go threw the alien cycle of life. All in all if you like the any of the alien or predator movies or AVP the movie then you will love this game.
